Alright, now just hear me out, or would it be read me out in this situation. Work is a great environment to meet people and build up long-term professional relationships. Still, there are some small aspects that could lead to potential issues. First off, falling in love in the office is not a smart move. While some office romances can manage to flourish into something wonderful, being the only guy who secretly has a crush on a colleague does not really work. Imagine you are supposed to focus on your work, but then get distracted as she enters the room making you type something into your computer that for some reason always ends up asking the question “Are you sure?” that may lead to potential deleted documents of importance. Second, try your best to build social contacts that do not distract too much from your work. Watercooler talk is a fun thing, but overdoing it may get your boss wondering if you actually take care of any work.
One of the most important lessons is pick your battles! Sometimes you will end up fighting your colleagues and no matter how strong a friendship is, you will fight at some point or time. There will always be the danger of your work or client getting in the way. It can happen, but over time you learn through experience. Some battles are more difficult others, but even if you don’t win the battle you could still finish the war. The Art of Office War, by me! Wonder if that would make for a great book one day. The Art of the Office, or maybe I could call it Office Wars and bank off of Star Wars. My quick rich scheme is finally coming together! Maybe I could just spend my time actually taking care of work, but who would want to do such a thing!
